The BANAKALE - ISIMALI REDD+ Project aims to develop a participatory process to establish a sustainable management system for the forests of the Santa Teresita del Tuparro and San Luis del Tomo indigenous reserves, to ensure environmental sustainability and mitigate the threats posed by main agents and drivers of deforestation
This project mitigates the effects of climate change by reducing CO2 emissions, avoiding deforestation and forest degradation, promoting the sustainable management of forests, cooperating in the conservation of biodiversity and promoting gender equity with indigenous women.
● Mitigate the effects caused by climate change through the adoption of measures to reduce and capture CO2 emissions, avoiding deforestation and forest degradation and promoting rehabilitation of degraded forest territories.
● Promote the sustainable management of the forests located in the area of influence of the project by the forest custodians, through the promotion of productive activities compatible with the reduction of emissions generated by deforestation and forest degradation.
● Cooperate in the conservation of biodiversity through the protection of ecological connectivity and habitat, of those species that are included within some category of threat, representing environmental interest as bioindicators in ecosystems or that have scientific interest.
● Contribute to improving the quality of life and promote education on gender equity by increasing leadership capacity, empowerment and entrepreneurship of indigenous women in collective territories.
