The project is an Afforestation,Reforestation and Revegetation (ARR) and Restoring Wetland Ecosystems (RWE) project implemented in the Indus River Delta, in Pakistan.
The project is designed to promote climate change mitigation and adaptation, conserve and maintain biodiversity, improve the livelihoods of local communities, ensure coastal areas protection and create alternative livelihoods. This a 60-years project renewable for up to 100 years and is being implemented over an area of 350,000 ha.
The project is an initiative to promote climate change mitigation and adaptation, maintain biodiversity and create improved livelihoods, well-being and employment for forest-dependent communities in the Project Zone
A total area of 224,997 ha will be planted during the project's lifetime. The project directly supports the livelihoods of 60 villages around the perimeter of the Project Area. These communities represent ca. 5,000 households and ca. 43,000individuals.
The project start date is 19 February 2015 and will be operational until 18 February 2075. The estimated ex-ante net GHG emissions removals at validation for the 60-year project span are 142,050,139 tCO2e,at an average of 2,407,629 tCO2e/year.
